Dr. Salisu Shehu Umar who was recently appointed as the Substantive Rector of Auchi Polytechnic has assured staff, stakeholders and host communities of the Federal institution that the Polytechnic under his administration shall consolidate on the efforts of previous administrations to advance the course of the citadel of higher learning.
He made this known during a closed door meeting with high ranking administrative officers of the Polytechnic on Tuesday.
The Rector appreciated the warm reception he received, appealed for more cooperation (going forward) and assured all that the Institution will once again go back to its position, placed in lofty and enviable heights amongst it peers in the business of academics.
Mallam S.S. Umar while receiving the mantle of stewardship from the out-gone Ag. Rector, TPL Abubakar Zakariya Al-Hasan, informed all that the Polytechnic is a familiar terrain having worked in its employ before now and assured all that together, with all hands on deck, the institution shall record no failure in her assignment to attain excellence in all its operations.
“With gratitude to Almighty Allah Who has sustained our lives, I thank you all for being here.
Having received the mantle of leadership from Al-Hasan who has done his beat, by God’s Grace I’ll continue from where he stopped.
By accepting this, it is an indication of my willingness to do the work I’ve been assigned.” he said.
Speaking to Pressmen on his expectations, the Rector said, “my vision for the Polytechnic is to make it a world class institution that can compete favorably with any international institution in the world.
We have standards, we must keep to standard and uphold our standards to a level of excellence.” he said.
Dr. Umar explained further that Auchi Polytechnic before now was amongst the top 38 institutions in Africa and the best in Nigeria.
“I can assure you, I’ve been part of this system, I worked in this system. Including the Ag. Rectors, I’ve experienced 5 different heads and I have actually picked one or two things from them. In gathering all these experiences, there’s no reason why I should accept failure.
We won’t fail, we are not going to fail by His Grace. We will take Auchi Polytechnic to the level that will be the envy of other institutions in Nigeria.” he concluded emphatically.
In attendance was the out-gone Ag. Rector, (TPL Abubakar Zakariya Al-Hasan), Polytechnic’s Registrar (Dr. Ihionkhan Godwin), Bursar (Sir Enagodia B. Lawrence), Librarian (Hajia Zainab Haruna), and the P.R.O (Sir Oshiobugie Mustafa).
Dr. Salisu Shehu Umar also had a closed door session with the different Unions within the institution as part of measures aimed at starting off on a strong foundation and piloting the Polytechnic higher together with all stakeholders.
