The Adamawa State Police Command has apprehended a notorious Indian hemp, dealer, running a distribution ring in three local government council areas of Ganye, Jada and Mayo-Belwa.
The suspect, Maigari, 26-year, -old, resident of Barde Ward, Ganye Local Government Area, was apprehended, in the middle of the night by police which led to the recovery of large quantity of Indian hemp, the illegal psychotropic substance, meant to be delivered to yet to be identified contacts.
The police public relations officer, DSP Suleiman Nguroje, on Saturday, said the arrest is part, of recent success recorded by the police, on the back of a reinvigorated fight aimed at checking cross border crime, banditry, armed robbery and other violent crime.
He said, “The police, in its effort towards combating crime in and around Adamawa state, the Operatives of the Command attached to Ganye Divisional police headquarters, in Ganye Local Government Area have arrested another notorious indian hemp dealer and distributor of weeds to youths in Ganye,Jada and Mayo- Belwa local government areas.
“The Command recovered large quantity of indian hemp from the suspect following the reinvigorated special action plan on the fight against Banditry, Kidnapping, armed Robbery and other violent crimes across the border areas initiated by the Commissioner of police, CP Aliyu Alhaji.”
The CP Aliyu Alhaji had assured residents that the police in the state would continue to do all within its power to guarantee stable security across the state while announcing, days back the inauguration of a special security outfit to tackle cross border crime which led to arrest of two notorious indian hemp dealers and narcotics dealers in Toungo.
Both dealers who were smuggling large cache of cannabis into the state through Dakalaji,Taraba border,Kiri District on 16/8/2021, were apprehended and denied the trafficking of illegal psychotropic substance to their target consumers who are mostly the perpetrators of violent crimes.
