King of Thieves is a 2022 Nigerian thriller film produced by Femi Adebayo and directed by Tope Adebayo and Adebayo Tijani. It stars Odunlade Adekola, Femi Adebayo, Toyin Abraham, Broda Shaggi, Adebayo Salami, Lateef Adedimeji, and Ibrahim Chatta. The Yoruba-language movie was co-produced by the Niyi Akinmolayan’s Anthill studios and Femi Adebayo‘s Euphoria 360. The movie’s premiere held on April 4, 2022 and the star-studded event held at the IMAX Cinemas, Lekki, Lagos which featured lot of trends and talk-point. The movie hit the cinema nationwide from April 8, 2022. King of Thieves (Agesinkole) is a story of a popular town and prosperous kingdom of Ajeromi, things were going as good as it should be in the Ajeromi kingdom until Agesinkole, a powerful bandit and terrorist came to terrorize the peaceful and prosperous kingdom of Ajeromi, the Ajeromi Kingdom however sought to destroy this Agesinkole bandit with just every power within them including their hunters, witches, wizard and every powers they possess.
A Nollywood Actor, Femi Adebayo, says his new epic movie, titled ‘King of Thieves’ known as Agesinkole, generated over N170 million in its first three weeks at the cinema. He said the movie, which cost him several millions of naira to produce, made over N43 million in three days at its first opening at the cinema and he said “In the history of Nollywood, no movie has ever made N43 million in three days of its opening at the cinema, that is an amount of money some movies will make in three months. The movie has actually paved way for many providers and producers that are producing indigenous contents. He said the movie was his first traditional film, adding that it has always been his dream to produce that kind of movie for so many years in the industry. The plan was to do a huge movie that will remind people the beauty of Yoruba culture and I waited till it was time and that the film took him more than a year to produce and my motive was to showcase the beauty of Yoruba culture to the entire world and at the same time to be able to say one or two things about the society, especially our leaders.
